About Us

Sindhuma Ishaya lives in scenic Tacoma Washington, surrounded on three sides by ocean and blessed with the huge guardian in the sky we call Mt. Rainier. She has been an artist all her life. While in college she learned to make jewelry using the lost-wax casting method. She taught art in the public schools for years, including elementary, middle school, high school , and graduate  art ed courses for teachers through two universities. She resigned from teaching in 1997 and moved to the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina to become an Ishaya monk and teach meditation.

During this time she designed rudraksha malas, the sacred beads of India, and began ordering gemstones and precious metal beads to help her fellow monks make their rudrakshas using their birthstones shown by their Jyotish astrology charts. She has been designing and making necklaces and other jewelry for ten years. She learned that gemstones and precious metals have a high vibratory rate and different healing qualities. By talking with the teachers who did the Jyotish charts over the years, she learned what the qualities of the gemstones used in rudraksha malas were. She became interested in designing jewelry that was beautiful esthetically, but more importantly could make a difference in people's moods, health, and spiritual growth. She can do a Jyotish chart for you free.

She began making jewelry for people intuitively combining different gemstones with gold vermeil or silver for their specific healing qualities. All natural, unheated or irradiated gemstones and precious metals carry distinct energies. Some gemstones correspond to certain planets, some of which have both good and bad aspects, such as Mars or Saturn. The lowest manifestation of the Mars energy, for instance, in represented by the scorpion; the angry, snappish energy which strikes out in rage. The highest form of Mars is represented by the white eagle, which also embodies the highest stage of enlightenment.

So creating the highest good for  someone whose Mars is strong in their chart is by channeling the natural passion of the red planet (represented by red coral) into positive life-affirming action, and to refrain from buying into the negative reactions of resentment, jealousy, anger and doubt. What has helped Sindhuma the most with this task (yes, she has a Mars the size of the Empire State Building in her graph of the Jyotish planets in her chart) has been the simple, non-religious meditation taught by the Ishayas, usable all day long, eyes open or closed.

She teaches this simple meditation, the Ishayas' Ascension, through a non-profit educational organization which offers techniques based on praise, gratitude and love which free the mind from conflict and the heart from pain.
